As parents you see and understand your child’s communication sooner than anyone else. This early communication requires focused listening skills. Edmonds Daycare is staffed to facilitate the careful listening and interacting necessary to build on the earliest signs of communication. The goal at this developmental stage is to give your child what they are craving. A place that encourages wonder, people who assist in developing thought, and an opportunity to demonstrate their new found ability.
Your child wants to be heard. The sooner they are able to communicate their needs, wants and desires the better. Everyone’s frustration level is minimized when real communication takes the place of primitive grunts, and crying. We work on communication right away by introducing baby sign language and new words and sounds constantly. All staff members at Edmonds Daycare talk about what is going on throughout the day so your child learns through everything around them. Working to create a framework in your child’s mind that allows them to recognize all that the future holds for them is our primary focus.
Information provided now also takes the fear away from learning new things as your child progresses through school. When a new subject is introduced they can grasp in more quickly if there has already been some previous knowledge. The knowledge may be small but it is our goal to offer as much information now as we possibly can. For example; Languages are easier to master if you have been exposed to the sounds needed early. You will hear background music in French, Spanish and other languages played here for that reason.
Your child may not be ready to learn everything, but they do want to know everything.
