Our School

The purpose of this childcare/preschool shall be to provide a positive environment for ages Birth – 7 years.  We offer values and materials that encourage stimulation and exploration through creativity, production, challenges, and outdoor physical movement.  Our creative environment is to build social and emotional values, self esteem, self control and a sense of self worth.  We offer information and opportunities that are beneficial to the children, their total family, and the community that surrounds them.

NO TV

Additionally, we send home a Daily Sheet as a record of the things your child has accomplished throughout his/her day. This can be an excellent resource for parents on the go, as well as a great conversation starter with your child.  Comprehension begins with the day sheet.  Link activities from school, to time at home you provide the beginning of memory retention.

Preschool is included in our program.

Curriculum – Our Activities Include:

Art – Students experience through the use of art materials creativity and self expression of ideas and feelings.

Cooking – Children of all ages love to cook and help in the kitchen. They will be involved in some aspect of meal preparation planning and serving.

Dramatic Play – Students have opportunities to recreate their world by dressing up and participating in role-playing activities.

Music – Different types of music are introduced through games, singing, listening, creative movement and finger play.

Science – Students learn about nature and their world by observing, exploring and comparing a variety of materials.

Mathematics – Through a variety of manipulative and table games, students learn to count, match, sort, compare and order.

Pre-reading/writing – Students are encouraged to explore books in our library as well as listen to stories read aloud. A variety of writing tools and paper mediums are provided for fine motor skills development.

Language – Students are given opportunities to practice and learn basic American Sign Language through flash cards, books and demonstrations.

Ethics – Students are given ethical response cues to the issues they face everyday.

Outdoor Play – The use of the climber, sandbox and playground challenges the physical abilities of the students. We go outside every day, exploring under a covered patio when inclement weather means we cannot fully enjoy our large open play space.

What we provide.

A safe place for your child; space is divided into centers.  Each is divided into age appropriate components.  For example; the math unit; has selections ranging from wooden building blocks to workbooks.  Your child can choose what to try.  We will design a program to meet the needs of you and your child.

Conversation; we talk to children at all ages, in developmentally appropriate language they can understand.  Cheryl has studied child development and in particular interpersonal relationships.  What children hear, see and experience is what shapes their picture of the world and how they are going to fit in it.  We look for and will provide opportunities for as many teachable moments a day can hold.
